Usher is renowned for his electrifying performances and has a segment in his shows where he invites a female fan onstage to join him while he sings ‘Can U Handle It?’
Recently, during this tour, a fan was escorted off the stage. She later expressed on social media that her appearance was too appealing to decline the invitation, referring to her “PRETTY PRIVILEGES.” Just days later, Usher issued a warning to a fan at his Birmingham concert, alluding to the woman he had previously removed from the stage.
“Before we start, don’t come up here if you don’t want to be here,” he stated, eliciting laughter from the audience. “God doesn’t favor the ugly, but he certainly doesn’t appreciate pretty privilege either.”
Fan Removed from Stage Shares Her Thoughts
During a performance in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, July 25, Usher escorted a fan offstage after she appeared uninterested during a sensual segment of the show. When he attempted to lay her down on a bed, he waved her off after commenting, “I don’t think she wants to be on stage.” The fan, Gabrielle Cheyenne, later addressed the backlash on Facebook.
“First of all, nobody is turning down a chance to go on stage. I looked amazing… you thought I was going to miss the opportunity to be seen by THOUSANDS of people?? On the big screen, where you will never be???? My mom and I had FLOOR SEATS. Their team moved us to VIP before the show even began! PRETTY PRIVILEGES are something you will never understand!! They don’t inform you about what you’re going up there for!! Did you all expect me to go up there and sleep with him? Y’all are not used to anything exciting. That would have been the most thrilling moment of your little lives!! Forget you, DISRESPECTFULLY
Cheyenne spoke to TMZ on Monday, July 27, revealing that she would have preferred to be onstage with Chris Brown, who is also part of the tour. She mentioned that she was taken to the VIP area but had no idea what the invitation to go onstage entailed. Cheyenne stated she would have reacted differently had it been Chris Brown on stage instead of Usher. She emphasized that she would have declined if she had known the VIP offer was for the ‘Yeah!’ artist.
“I’m a bigger fan of Chris Brown than Usher,” she said. “So, definitely, it would have been a different reaction with Chris Brown… it wouldn’t have been so stiff.”
The fan added that her intention was not to disrupt the moment, but she simply favors one artist over the other.
