On Thursday, July 9, Chancery Judge Ashlee Cole shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, along with several screenshots. She stated, “We have made the decision not to communicate with the press at this time. The media does not serve as the proper venue to discuss the events of July 4, 2026. We understand that the truth will not stop the threats against our innocent children.”
“We have not yet had the chance to connect with the Wells-Wonsley family or their attorney. We are, however, open to direct communication with attorney Ben Crump and the Wells-Wonsley family,” she added. “We will share all the information we have so that their family can properly grieve. We are also eager to uncover what transpired with Nolan. We will do everything we can to support Nolan’s family in their pursuit of answers.”
Judge Cole included screenshots and a screen recording of disturbing messages received through her Instagram account. In one screenshot, an individual wrote, “These two are gonna be strangled till their eyes go red an lips turn blue.”
Another threatening comment stated, “There’s gonna be a bomb sent to your office… I’m gonna get you when you leave work… Slow painful death… I got your email, your phone number, your address…”
It is important to note that these threatening messages seem to originate from a single Instagram account, @yaeyae962.

Chancery Judge Ashlee Cole Reflects on the Tragic Death of Nolan Xavier Wells
As reported by The Shade Room, Chancery Judge Ashlee Cole first gained attention when she released a statement regarding the disappearance and death of Nolan Xavier Wells. On Tuesday, July 7, she posted on Facebook, confirming that her son, Warren Hudson, had been on Horn Island with Wells on July 4.
Judge Cole also disclosed that she had temporarily deactivated her social media accounts due to the intense emotional climate online. At that time, she expressed concerns for her children’s safety, as images of them were circulating on social media.
In her post, she extended her family’s prayers to Wells’ family. She clarified that neither she nor her husband were present on Horn Island on July 4, and she believes her son “fully cooperated” with law enforcement.
“He last saw Nolan around 3 PM on July 4. They departed around 4:30 PM when their boat began taking on water due to an issue with the bilge pump. Nolan chose to remain on the island and planned to return later with another group of friends,” she recounted.
Before concluding, the judge expressed her hope that her message would help shift the focus back to Wells’ family.
What Are the Latest Developments in the Case of Nolan Xavier Wells?
Recently, a friend of Nolan Xavier Wells, Tracestin Shepherd, addressed a viral photo of him that has been circulating. As reported by The Shade Room, attorney Ben Crump, representing the Wells family, shared a photo of Wells at a pool party, implying it was taken after he returned from Horn Island. This insinuation suggested that Wells had safely returned before being tragically found deceased.
After the photo gained significant attention, Shepherd clarified that the image was actually taken on June 27, not July 5, as The Shade Room noted. He also accused Crump of exploiting the Wells family’s vulnerability during this difficult time. This came as Wells’ mother issued a message to those “joking” about her son’s death.
