Support from Hollywood: Whoopi Goldberg, Matthew McConaughey, and Michael B. Jordan Stand by Jonathan Majors Amid Childhood Trauma Revelations
Meagan Good remains a steadfast supporter of her fiancé, Jonathan Majors, showcasing unwavering loyalty during challenging times.
In a revealing interview with The Hollywood Reporter released on Friday, Good passionately defended her decision to stand by Majors despite serious allegations of abuse against him. She articulated the depth of her commitment to their relationship and the reasons behind her unwavering support.
“We didn’t plan to start dating, nor did we anticipate being seen publicly together,” Good, who began her relationship with the Marvel star in the spring of 2023, explained to the outlet. “However, once we found ourselves in a relationship, it felt natural to embrace it and acknowledge what was happening.”
Majors faced serious legal issues when he was arrested in March 2023 for the alleged assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Following a trial that concluded in December 2023, he was found guilty of misdemeanor assault in the third degree, which included recklessly causing physical injury as well as harassment in the second degree.
During the trial, Majors was acquitted of misdemeanor assault in the third degree with intent to cause physical harm as well as misdemeanor aggravated harassment in the second degree. Despite his legal victories, Marvel Studios chose to terminate his contract immediately after the jury’s decision. Throughout these trials, Good stood unwaveringly by his side, demonstrating her commitment.

The actress from Harlem, who consistently supported Majors both publicly and privately by attending his court hearings throughout the two-week trial, revealed that despite concerns regarding the potential impact on her career, her profound love for Majors and her unwavering belief in him outweighed all other considerations. This speaks volumes about her character and the depth of their bond.
“People often choose to distance themselves out of fear for their careers or reputations,” she elaborated. “To me, that isn’t true love. If you love someone and believe in them, your support should not be conditional.”
Good’s remarks come on the heels of Majors revealing significant details about his traumatic past in his profile with THR, disclosing that he endured “sexual abuse from both men and women starting at the age of 9.”
Majors, who shared that his father abandoned the family when he was just 8 years old, described the abuse he suffered as coming from those closest to him: “the very people who are supposed to care for you, especially in the absence of a father figure. I was deeply affected by these experiences.”
He recently confided in his mother about his childhood trauma, explaining to THR that she has since expressed regret for not being able to protect him from harm during his formative years.

Although his acting future remains uncertain, Majors has received encouragement from several peers, including Michael B. Jordan, who commended him for his remarkable resilience during these trying times.
“He’s doing well; he just got engaged. I admire his resilience and the way he navigates through all of this,” Jordan shared with GQ last month. “I’m glad to see him in a good place; that’s my boy.”
Jordan also expressed interest in collaborating with Majors on future projects, such as Creed IV, among other endeavors, indicating his belief in Majors’ talent and potential.
Whoopi Goldberg, who starred alongside Majors in his breakthrough role in the 2017 film When We Rise, also lent her support, stating to THR, “You are not being asked to apologize at this time.”
She further noted, “He faced the legal consequences. He attended court. He fulfilled his obligations. I’m unsure what more can be expected from him.”

Majors remains hopeful for a bright future where he, Good, and his 11-year-old daughter Ella, whom he shares from a previous relationship, can live in peace and comfort, free from the shadows of his past.
“I envision a future with Meagan, possibly some children, and my daughter Ella, where we can all be happy and comfortable, without any worries,” he shared. “Do I hope to create more films? Absolutely. That is my goal. However, that decision is out of my hands. I no longer possess control over that aspect.”
