Following the conclusion of the highly anticipated WWDC keynote, Apple has released the initial beta versions of its newest operating systems.
If you’re eager to explore the innovative Siri AI, Spatial Reframing, and other exciting features introduced at WWDC 2026, you’ll need to download the developer beta versions of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27, all of which are now available.
Here’s how to get started.
Enroll in the Apple Developer Program to Access Betas
Your first step is to register for the Apple Developer Program. If you’re not yet a member, it’s easy to sign up right away.
Visit the Apple Developer Program enrollment page or open the Apple Developer app and log in using your Apple ID. You’ll need to provide some basic information, such as your name and contact details, and agree to the program’s terms. While Apple may direct you to a payment page, this is a standard procedure for developers wishing to sell apps on the App Store. If your only goal is to download the beta versions, you won’t need to make any payment.
You’re now prepared to download the beta versions.

Ensure Your Device is Backed Up Before Proceeding
Before you download the beta, it’s crucial to back up your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Beta versions are, by nature, prone to bugs and issues that may necessitate restoring your device from a backup.
How to Download the Developer Beta on iOS
To download the beta, open the Settings app, navigate to General, and then select Software Update.
Next, tap on the Beta Updates option, and choose “iOS 27 Developer Beta.” You should see the latest developer beta version available for download. Tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the download. The installation process may take some time, so remain patient; your device will automatically reboot once the installation is finished.
Downloading the macOS 27 Golden Gate Beta: A Similar Process
After ensuring your Mac is backed up, go to System Settings. Navigate to General, then to Software Update. Next to the Beta Updates option, click on the small “i” icon to reveal a dropdown menu. Choose the “macOS Developer Golden Gate Beta” option and click “Done.”
The macOS 27 Golden Gate beta will then begin downloading and installing.
The procedure is similar for other operating systems, so head to the software update section in the Settings app to begin.
What Are Your Options if You Prefer Not to Create a Developer Account?
As of June 8, the only method to access the initial iOS 27 beta—and the other new Apple operating systems—is through a developer account. Apple is expected to release a public beta version in late July, prior to the full public launch scheduled for the fall.
