In each profitable field workplace franchise, there comes a second of conclusion that feels satisfying to almost all concerned—that’s, till producers pocket-watching mentioned movie’s field workplace success come knocking, asking, “What are subsequent?” Take, for instance, Keanu Reeves’ career-reviving motion sequence John Wick. Though the sequence’ hype is at an all-time excessive, its co-creator is firmly towards permitting a possible fifth movie to decrease the ending of John Wick: Chapter 4.
In a latest interview with the Hollywood Reporter, sequence co-creator Chad Stahelski reiterated that followers ought to mood their expectations of seeing Reeves return in a fifth movie within the franchise. His reasoning? John Wick’s story is over. Bookended, even. What’s extra, Stahelski (rightfully) believes Wick’s ending was so poignant that persevering with the franchise by bringing him again would cheapen the movie’s picture-perfect ship off. For Stahelski, the concept of a fifth film serves extra as a artistic train than a real creative pursuit.
“The sincere reality is you don’t [top John Wick: Chapter 4]. You merely don’t. There’s no topping what we did. That’s the top. That’s the deal. That’s what we discovered closure for. Look, generally, we’ll hold issues in improvement. Typically, we’ll use improvement as an train, however is there a possibility to do [John Wick 5]? In fact, there’s, whether or not it’s for cash or for creativity,” Stahelski instructed THR. “Jesus, within the final three years, I’ve already had three or 4 variations of a John Wick 5. They have been alternative ways to crack the story, but it surely’s nearly a psychological train for me.”
Though Stahelski has spun narrative yarn over the place he might take the franchise subsequent, he’s fairly snug in saying wherever the numbered continuation goes, it received’t comply with any aspect of John’s story arc.
“It will not be a part of that [John Wick: Chapter 4] storyline. It will not be what you’d assume it’s. So far as [John Wick: Chapter 4], we’ve peaked. At the least I’ve. That’s my apex. We ended it. It’s an entire story,” Stahelski continued. “I watch it now, and I really feel very joyful about it, however we wouldn’t attempt to outdo it. We wouldn’t attempt to add on to that. It’d should be a totally totally different storyline.”
Now that Stahelski has made it irrefutably clear that he doesn’t plan on pulling a Deadpool & Wolverine by bringing the Baba Yaga again, there are some John Wick tasks coming down the pipeline that hope to broaden its mythos. Apart from the prequel television present The Continental, followers can stay up for Ana de Armas staring within the clunkily titled John Wick Presents: Ballerina.
Past Ballerina‘s June 6, 2025 launch date, followers can stay up for a prequel anime featurette that’ll showcase John Wick finishing the “inconceivable activity” that permit him retire from contract killing (for a time). There’s additionally a spin-off sequence in improvement by Robert Levine known as Beneath the Excessive Desk that can comply with the sequence’ supporting characters. A spin-off for Donnie Yen’s Caine can also be being written. So yeah, there’s much more Wickverse stuff in retailer.
