The phrase “Cobra Kai by no means dies” might quickly have an entire new which means. Although solely the primary third of the ultimate season of the Netflix Karate Child spinoff is out, the present’s creators are already exploring methods to proceed the franchise. This a lot we already reported. However now we all know one of many particular tales they’re contemplating, and it’s extremely intriguing.
Chatting with the Hollywood Reporter, Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg revealed that this season’s teases concerning the previous of Mr. Miyagi, the trainer from the unique Karate Child movies performed by Pat Morita, are a touch at what may be to come back. “It is likely one of the explanation why we did the Miyagi field story this season,” he stated. “It opens up all these questions on Mr. Miyagi and what his life was like, and that’s been one thing we’ve been desirous to do for some time. We’ve talked to Robert Mark Kamen, the author of the unique Karate Child who primarily based this complete film off his sensei who studied Okinawan karate; we’ve been speaking about all this Miyagi backstory with him, which helped us with season six stuff. Now that we’re accomplished, we are able to truly begin entering into these things.”
And by “entering into these things,” did Schlossberg imply a possible Mr. Miyagi prequel present? “I’d say that we positively need to try this and have been speaking about that,” he continued. “However the focus has been on Cobra Kai. As we’re ending that up, we’ll see precisely what path we take by way of spinoffs, however it’s positively one thing that we’ve been desirous to do. It’s simply that we need to wait till we get completed with Cobra Kai first earlier than we get into that.”
Out of all The Karate Child film characters who’ve been part of Cobra Kai, Mr. Miyagi is definitely the one we’ve realized the least about. Largely that’s as a result of Morita handed away in 2005, and the present honored that by having the character even be deceased. However Schlossberg, who created Cobra Kai with Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald, additionally is aware of that any exploration of Miyagi may reframe not simply Cobra Kai, however the authentic motion pictures too. It’s a fragile topic however one which, if it occurs, might be very attention-grabbing.
The second third of Cobra Kai’s last season is coming in November. See the primary batch of episodes right here.
