Blocked users can now see your posts on Elon Musk’s X

Despite facing significant backlash, Elon Musk’s X has moved forward with its controversial announcement about modifications to the block feature. The company appears resolute in its decision, which has sparked intense discussions across social media platforms.

“We’re starting to launch the block function update,” an official X account posted on Sunday, indicating that the changes are being implemented as planned.

X, which was previously known as Twitter, had already announced its intention to revise the block feature on its platform. This decision drew a wave of criticism, and the feedback following this recent update continues to reflect a negative sentiment from users.

“F*ing morons,” stated one of the top replies on the X post, illustrating the frustration among users regarding the changes.

Nonetheless, as of Sunday, some users have reported observing the new modifications to the block function actively rolled out to their accounts, indicating that the transition is in progress.

Understanding the Significant Changes to X’s Block Feature

Previously, the block function on X was designed to create a barrier where blocked users could not see any content from the accounts they were barred from accessing. This included the user’s profile page, posts, follower and following lists, as well as their replies to public posts. The blocked accounts also had no ability to interact with or send direct messages to those who had blocked them, ensuring a complete separation.

With the latest updates, X is now allowing blocked users to view the posts and profile pages of those who have blocked them. However, the revised policy maintains that blocked users still cannot follow, direct message, engage with, or reply to the users who have restricted them. This change raises concerns about the safety and privacy of users, as it potentially allows malicious actors to continue monitoring their victims’ activities online.

Prior to this modification, if a blocked user wished to access content from an account that had blocked them, they faced the cumbersome task of creating a new account and frequently switching between accounts to view restricted content. The recent changes have eliminated these obstacles, enabling blocked users to easily keep track of the updates and posts from those who have chosen to block them, raising serious implications for user experience and safety.
