Although Skarsgård possesses limited insight into the film’s developments—much like any fan not privy to details from Muschietti or James Gunn—he remains open to collaborating with the director once more, following their successful partnership in the It series.

Skarsgård Believes He Could Bring a Unique Interpretation to the Joker
Skarsgård is also confident that he possesses a “really cool” interpretation of the Joker, expressing that taking on the role of the Clown Prince of Crime would be an exciting challenge. Currently, the Joker‘s standing in the DC Universe is somewhat ambiguous, as he hasn’t been mentioned in the latest project, Creature Commandos, and the next significant Bat-themed film is set for 2026 with Clayface. Nevertheless, if anyone embodies the essence of a sophisticated yet chaotic murder clown, it is undoubtedly Skarsgård.

There’s also the intriguing possibility of Skarsgård portraying both Batman and Joker. In recent years, he has taken on a variety of fascinating roles in genre films, often delivering strong performances even in less-than-stellar movies.
