Barret Robbins, former Raiders All-Pro center, has passed away at the age of 52. His teammate Tim Brown confirmed the news, stating that Robbins died in his sleep.
Robbins’ death was confirmed by Brown, who received a call from Marissa Robbins about the tragic news.
Brown revealed the heartbreaking details on Thursday night and expressed his sorrow over the loss.
“Thankfully, he passed peacefully in his sleep,” said Brown, reflecting on Robbins’ final moments.
Brown urged fans to pray for Robbins’ family and the many teammates who are affected by this loss.
Brown also recalled a troubling incident involving Robbins before Super Bowl XXXVII, where he went missing after not taking his depression medication.
Robbins was suspended from the Super Bowl by then-coach Bill Callahan, who determined he was not fit to play.
“It’s unfortunate that his life was never the same after he was not allowed to play in the Super Bowl!” Brown lamented.
“Rest Peacefully BR, you deserve it!” Brown concluded, paying tribute to his friend.
Robbins began his football career at TCU and was later selected by the Raiders in the 2nd round of the 1995 NFL Draft.
He played for nine seasons in the NFL, with his best year in 2002, when he made the Pro Bowl and was named a 1st team All-Pro.
