Google’s AI Tools: Automatic Disclosure in My Ad Center
Google is enhancing transparency regarding the use of generative AI in advertisements. Their My Ad Center now features a new section titled ‘How this ad was made.’ This information will be available globally across Google’s platforms, including Search, YouTube, and Discover.
When ads are created or modified using Google’s advanced AI tools, a disclosure will be automatically included in the My Ad Center panel. For ads developed using other tools, brands will have the option to indicate that generative AI was involved. it appears this may be an opt-in feature rather than a mandatory requirement. Depending on regional regulations, enabling this feature may result in an AI usage label appearing on the advertisement.
Clarity about media alterations is essential in advertising, ensuring potential buyers understand precisely what they are purchasing. Google stated, “We aim to help individuals gain a better understanding of the ads they encounter, while equipping advertisers with straightforward tools to adapt to the changing industry standards,” in their blog post announcing this update.
