Stephen Glosser (top above) from Chatham County, Georgia, has entered a guilty plea for charges of Stalking and Use of an Explosive to Commit Another Felony Offense. This was confirmed by Acting U.S. Attorney Tara M. Lyons in a statement released by the USAO, highlighting the severity of the actions taken against the victims involved.

“The level of malevolent violence in this case is staggering, and it’s truly fortunate that there were no fatalities as a result of this horrific crime,” stated Lyons. “This successful prosecution is a testament to the exceptional investigative efforts of the ATF and our state and local law enforcement partners.” Such collaboration underscores the importance of law enforcement working together to tackle serious threats to community safety.

Due to his guilty plea, Glosser has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and is required to pay restitution amounting to $507,781 to the two victims in this horrifying case. Upon completing his prison sentence, he will face an additional three years of supervised release, with no possibility of parole at the federal level, which reflects the serious nature of his crimes.

Authorities in Bryan County first became aware of this alarming situation on January 13, 2023, when they responded to reports of an explosion in a residence where two individuals were still inside. Their subsequent investigation into this incident led to the identification and arrest of Glosser and his accomplice in February 2023, showcasing the importance of proactive law enforcement in addressing potential threats to public safety.

In his guilty plea, as stated in the USAO release, Glosser revealed to authorities that he coordinated with his co-conspirator, identified as Caleb Kinsey (bottom above), to “orchestrate a plan to kill, intimidate, harass, or injure” the homeowner, shedding light on the premeditated nature of their violent intentions.

The plotting included disturbing plans to “shoot arrows into the victim’s front door… release a large python into the victim’s home to harm her daughter… scalp the victim,” along with sending rats and dog feces to the residence, culminating in the ultimate goal of blowing up the house. This chilling account reveals the extent of their violent fantasies and the serious threat they posed to the victims’ safety.

Glosser disclosed to authorities that he managed to track down the victim’s address using the internet and a photograph she had previously shared with him. Kinsey procured exploding targets online, as per the release, which the duo utilized to construct the bomb that ultimately caused the explosion at the victim’s home, demonstrating a concerning level of planning and intent to inflict harm.

According to Savannah ABC affiliate WJCL, the woman and child living in the residence had only moved in the day prior to the explosion. Reports indicate that the suspects allegedly placed their device in the driveway the same evening the mother and daughter moved in, with the explosion occurring the following morning. This timeline raises serious questions about the motivations and planning behind this heinous act.

After the explosion, Glosser allegedly hired a cleaning service to clean the carpets in his own home in an attempt to erase any traces of the bomb-making materials, demonstrating a clear intent to cover up his criminal activities and evade justice.

While Glosser has entered a guilty plea regarding the charges against him, Kinsey was apprehended in Louisiana on unrelated charges and is still awaiting prosecution in this particular case, indicating ongoing legal proceedings and the potential for additional consequences for those involved.
