Snapchat has added some new options, which are literally pretty retro-style, reminiscent of older tendencies.
First off, Snapchat’s attempting to reignite curiosity in Bitstrips, the originating format of Bitmoji, which, at one stage, was enormous on Fb.
As per Snap:
“Our neighborhood has lengthy cherished Bitmoji Tales as a technique to keep related with enjoyable, comic-strip fashion tales. Now, we’re bringing brand-new episodes to Snapchatters that includes our 3D Bitmoji avatar for much more personalised content material starring you and your mates.”
Bitstrips turned a viral development on Fb again in 2013, when, at one stage, it was the second most downloaded app on the earth. Snapchat has maintained the Bitstrips development with Bitmoji Tales, however it’s now making a renewed push on the choice.
So now you possibly can see your digital doppelganger in new story frames within the app.
Snapchat additionally not too long ago added lyric stickers to facilitate singalongs with Snaps.
Evidently Snap could also be taking extra of an curiosity in music options, as Instagram can also be, with the pending removing of TikTok from the U.S. market doubtlessly leaving a niche for music-based engagement.
Which can also be evident within the new options for Snapchat+ subscribers, who’re getting the choice to set a customized ringtone for associates:
“Snapchat+ subscribers can now select their very personal ringtone for every of their associates or group chats. With customized ringtones, you possibly can inform who’s providing you with a name with out even your telephone!”
That is presumably probably the most retro new characteristic I’ve seen in a while.
Again within the early 2000’s, promoting ringtones was a severe enterprise, with many individuals paying to customise their telephone alerts within the fashion of the most recent pop hits. And now, Snap’s bringing it again, which might be a enjoyable choice for Snap’s paying subscribers.
Snapchat+ subscribers are additionally getting the choice to rewatch Snap that they’ve despatched:
“Quickly, Snapchat+ subscribers can replay their very own Snap for as much as 5 minutes after sending.”
These are some enjoyable updates, which, as famous, goal to reawaken some tendencies of yesteryear, in new type. And in the event that they catch on, they might assist to spark extra consideration and engagement for the app, and extra subscribers for its paid providing.
