Paramount’s strategy of purposeful digital rot doesn’t even make sense

In some circumstances as we navigate our way by means of the every day doom scroll that is our present news cycle, it is good to go back once again and attempt to keep in mind how matters employed to be. People situations sucked as properly but a distraction is nonetheless a distraction. Just a single of my favored approaches to seem at the previous was by going by means of old clips of The Day by day Exhibit with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report on Comedy Central’s net web page.

Paramount went on a content material teardown this week and pulled aged clips and episodes of its signature satire shows from the Comedy Central web-site, as correctly as details from cable channels like Television set Land, CMT and the Paramount Neighborhood, in accordance to the Hollywood Reporter. These websites now incorporate a see that tells sights the clips are unavailable there, but that they can “indication up for Paramount+ to take pleasure in lots of seasons of Comedy Central displays.”

It is a bizarre go for the explanation that most of these prior episodes are not accessible on its Paramount+ streaming service. In essence, there is no longer a price-totally free, legal suggests to consume the archive of these shows. It wouldn’t be so insulting if you also could not view all of Carlos Mencia’s comedy specials on the method.

If you are itching to appear at some of Comedy Central’s older displays, some are out there on the streaming help and you can nonetheless obtain some episodes of The Colbert Report on AppleTV or the iTunes shop. If you are also like me and you nonetheless use DVDs, you can invest in utilized copies of The Finest of the Colbert Report and The Each day Show’s Indecision 2004 coverage of the presidential election from on the world-wide-web retailers. Paramount just can not get absent actual physical media… nevertheless. But it would appear most probably some portion of these exhibits — as nicely as the entire MTVNews archive — are now proficiently missing to time for no amazing lead to.
