Mico, the Unique Corporate Mascot, Steps Back from Copilot Voice Role.
Launched in October 2025, Mico was designed to provide a friendly, anthropomorphized interface for voice interactions with Microsoft’s Copilot AI chatbot. less than a year after its debut, Mico is being reassigned. Microsoft has opted to remove Mico from the Copilot voice section, relocating it to the Learn Live hub. In this new setting, Mico will serve as a “tutor,” guiding users through various learning experiences.
According to the support page, “Mico helped us learn about warmth, expressiveness, and how people want to talk with AI. Those learnings are shaping Copilot going forward.” The page emphasizes that the Learn hub offers Mico the opportunity to grow, suggesting that its new role involves more interactive tutoring sessions. This change might sound reminiscent of a beloved pet being sent to a farm for a better life.
The support page also reassures users that voice interaction with Copilot remains available, catering to those who prefer this method of engagement. users should note that any Mico-specific settings previously configured for voice will not transfer to its new educational role.
