Daycare Employee Charged with Multiple Counts of Battery Following Classroom Incident
Latasha Mullings, aged 41, faces 11 counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of misdemeanor assault with intent to commit violence after an investigation linked to Mustard Seed Kidz in West Melbourne. On May 27, a parent reported to the school director that a child had been inappropriately struck during class. This report prompted an internal review and immediate contact with law enforcement.
Investigators examined surveillance footage from May 19 to May 26. They discovered multiple alarming interactions involving various children. Law enforcement officials stated that the video allegedly shows repeated physical incidents among children aged 2 to 4, raising serious concerns about behavior in the classroom during that timeframe.
Surveillance Footage Reveals Disturbing Behavior in the Classroom
Authorities allege that the video recorded instances of aggressive physical contact, including striking and other forceful interactions with young students, many of whom appeared visibly upset. These findings prompted school administrators to immediately terminate Mullings’ employment and alert both law enforcement and state child welfare officials as the investigation progressed.
