Justin Timberlake was arrested for a serious DWI charge yet managed to make light of the situation with police, joking about his race.
The body cam footage from the pop superstar’s 2024 arrest in Sag Harbor, NY, reveals his confusion when police labeled him as “white.” He humorously told officers he was just playin’ around.
However, the footage takes a serious turn as Justin expresses shock upon learning he must remain in his jail cell all night. He visibly drops his head in disappointment when police confirm his custody for driving while intoxicated.
There was confusion on both sides. Justin struggled to understand the reason for his arrest and asked the officer to clarify his reasoning.
The officer who pulled him over was unaware he was speaking to a Grammy-winning celebrity. The officer did not grasp what Justin meant when he mentioned being on a world tour.
In June 2024, the “Sexyback” hitmaker was caught swerving on the road in New York. He failed his field sobriety tests, which are visible in the footage. Police observed him running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane, prompting them to pull him over.
At the time of the incident, Justin was in the midst of his first tour in five years, the Forget Tomorrow World Tour. Fortunately, his arrest did not impact his concert dates.
Justin ultimately pleaded guilty to impaired driving in September 2024. This plea deal reduced his initial misdemeanor charge to a noncriminal traffic violation. He agreed to a public safety announcement about drunk driving, paid a $500 fine, completed 25 hours of community service, and lost his license for 90 days.
