Riot Games, a leader in the gaming industry, has announced significant layoffs affecting its fighting game 2XKO. Approximately 80 employees, representing nearly half of the global development team for 2XKO, will be impacted. This decision comes as part of a strategic shift following the game’s recent console launch.
Executive producer Tom Cannon stated that while 2XKO has cultivated a dedicated player base, overall engagement levels have not justified maintaining such a large team. The transition from PC to console revealed trends in player interaction that necessitated this reduction.
Despite these layoffs, Riot Games remains committed to its competitive plans for 2026. Cannon assured that efforts would be made to reassign affected employees within the company wherever feasible.
