NetEase, the renowned Chinese video game company known for publishing acclaimed titles such as Marvel Rivals and Bungie’s Destiny: Rising, has officially revealed its ambitious venture into the realm of single-player AAA games. The newly announced title, Blood Message, is an engaging story-driven third-person action-adventure game that draws inspiration from legendary franchises like Uncharted and Assassin’s Creed. Set against the backdrop of the tumultuous final years of the Tang Dynasty, a period during which imperial China flourished from 618 to 907, players will assume the role of a nameless messenger accompanied by his son. Their mission is to convey a vital message that could determine the fate of their conflict-ridden homeland.
Throughout the game, players will embark on an epic journey through desolate deserts and the expansive wilderness of East and Central Asia. The captivating trailer showcases the challenges the messenger and his son face, including fierce battles against formidable enemies in the harsh desert environment, survival against devastating avalanches, and interactions with enigmatic characters who play pivotal roles in their quest. Players will also encounter ancient artifacts that enrich the narrative and gameplay. Additionally, the trailer highlights cinematic cutscenes, stealth tactics, and survival mechanics, along with breathtaking landscapes that players can expect to explore in this immersive world.

While NetEase has not yet disclosed an official release date, Blood Message is confirmed to be available on both consoles and PC. The announcement of this game underscores the growing influence of Chinese developers in the AAA gaming market. Notably, Black Myth: Wukong, widely regarded as the first true AAA game from China, was released last year and is set to launch on the Xbox platform in August.
