The NYT has recently launched its latest daily word game in partnership with The Athletic, the esteemed section dedicated to sports coverage within the publication. Connections is accessible on both web browsers and mobile platforms, allowing players to engage anywhere they choose. The objective is straightforward: group four words that share a commonality, enhancing both your vocabulary and your knowledge of sports terminology.

Each engaging puzzle consists of 16 words, which players must categorize into four distinct groups. These categories can range across various topics, including book titles, software names, country names, and much more. Although many words may seem to fit together seamlessly, only one correct grouping exists, challenging your critical thinking skills.

When players accurately guess all four words in a particular set, those words are eliminated from the board, providing a satisfying sense of accomplishment. However, incorrect guesses count as mistakes, with players allowed up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players can also strategically rearrange and shuffle the board to enhance their ability to identify connections. Each group is color-coded to signify difficulty levels: yellow indicates the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, players have the option to share their results on social media, fostering a sense of community among fellow gamers.
