Reports from Variety indicate that Baldoni’s lawyers are leveraging this situation to issue a litigation hold letter. This document mandates that Disney and Marvel Studios preserve “documents and data” related to Baldoni and the “Nicepool” character, which could be pivotal in the unfolding legal drama.
Throughout the promotional tours for Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us, tensions between Baldoni and Lively, who starred alongside him in his directorial project, became palpable. The interactions were marked by subtle jabs and creative disagreements that have since escalated. This culminated in Lively filing a lawsuit against Baldoni in December, alleging misconduct on set. In response, Baldoni countersued not just Lively but also the New York Times, asserting that both the actress and the publication misrepresented leaked messages to bolster Lively’s case.

Additionally, a deleted scene featuring Nicepool referencing a feminist podcast has further fueled speculation, making the “Baldoni is Nicepool?” theory a viral sensation.
The litigation letter from Baldoni’s team specifically requests that Marvel and Disney maintain “any and all documents relating to the development of the ‘Nicepool’ character.” It also seeks to preserve “communications regarding the development, writing, and filming of storylines and scenes featuring ‘Nicepool’,” as well as any documents that may reflect a concerted effort to mock or intimidate Baldoni through this character. According to Variety, the letter was dated January 7, yet, amidst the ongoing turmoil in Los Angeles, there has been little progress as neither party has publicly commented on the case since then.
