During our visit to CES in Las Vegas earlier this year, we formed a favorable impression of Xreal’s offerings, but it was clear that the ultimate success of their technology would significantly depend on the variety of applications available. In a strategic move to tackle this challenge, Xreal has introduced its innovative One Series of AR glasses, designed to enhance connectivity by utilizing USB-C ports, which can link to a wider range of devices.

Xreal’s newly launched One Series AR glasses are capable of generating customizable cinematic displays, featuring advanced three degrees-of-freedom (3DoF) rotational tracking and spatial computing capabilities. The company claims that these glasses can seamlessly interface with an extensive array of devices, including iPhones, Android devices, Steam Deck, PCs, MacBooks, and virtually any device equipped with a video-out feature over USB-C, as highlighted in their recent announcement.

Previously, users of Xreal glasses were required to employ either the Xreal Beam or Beam Pro adapter to generate spatial displays compatible with USB-C devices. However, the revolutionary One Series integrates this spatial functionality directly into the glasses themselves, thanks to a custom silicon chip known as the X1. This chip offers an impressive low motion-to-photon (M2P) latency of approximately ~3ms at 120Hz, making it a standout feature according to Xreal’s announcement.

The Xreal One Series also boasts a substantial display area, providing 1080p full HD resolution for each eye. Utilizing a unique triangular birdbath lens design, these glasses can achieve a 50-degree field-of-view and deliver a display that is 20.7 percent larger than that of the Xreal Air 2 series. In an industry-first, the Xreal One Pro features a flat-prism lens design that can create an expansive 57-degree field-of-view, ensuring an immersive visual experience. Both models are equipped with high-fidelity audio technology, featuring sound optimization by Bose.

Despite their impressive capabilities, the glasses are relatively large, similar to other AR spectacles available on the market. However, the One Series boasts an 11 mm profile, which is 40.9 percent thinner than conventional birdbath optics, thus enhancing portability and comfort for users.

Xreal is currently accepting pre-orders for the Xreal One at a price of $499 (€549) and the One Pro glasses for $599 (€649). According to the company, shipping for the Xreal One is slated to commence in mid-December, while the One Pro will be available early next year, ensuring that tech enthusiasts will soon be able to experience the latest in augmented reality technology.
