Mark Your Calendars: And Just Like That Season 3 Premiere Date Revealed
If you’ve been wondering whether there will be an And Just Like That season 3, the answer is a resounding yes! On August 22, the streaming platform Max confirmed the renewal of And Just Like That for a third exciting season. Fans can rejoice as they prepare to delve back into the enchanting world of Sex And The City.
“We are absolutely thrilled to extend our journey within the Sex And The City universe, presenting fresh narratives that revolve around the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters, brilliantly portrayed by an amazing ensemble of actors. And Just Like That… here comes season 3,” stated executive producer Michael Patrick King in an official announcement.

Sarah Aubrey, the Head of Original Content, expressed her excitement, stating, “We are elated to announce that since the debut of season two, And Just Like That… has been ranked as the #1 Max Original overall and is the most-watched returning Max Original series to date. As we approach the much-anticipated season finale on Thursday, we raise our glasses to Michael Patrick King and his extraordinary team of writers, producers, cast, and crew who have captivated us, even 25 years later, with their dynamic friendships and engaging storylines. We can hardly wait for audiences to experience the direction season three will take our favorite New Yorkers.”
According to a February 2024 report by Variety, production for the new season is scheduled to begin later in 2024, with a release date set for May 29, 2025.
Anticipated Cast for And Just Like That Season 3
And Just Like That has not yet finalized its cast for the upcoming season 3; however, fans can expect to see the return of fan favorites Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. After all, what would And Just Like That be without the iconic trio of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte?

It’s also likely that the main supporting cast will reprise their roles for season 3. This includes Sarita Choudhury as Seema, Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa, Karen Pittman as Nya, Mario Cantone as Anthony, David Eigenberg as Steve, Evan Handler as Harry, Christopher Jackson as Herbert, Niall Cunningham as Brady, Cathy Ang as Lily, and Alexa Swinton as Rock. Their dynamic interactions and evolving relationships have become an integral part of the storyline.
However, according to a report from February 2024 by Variety, Sara Ramirez will not be returning to the show as the nonbinary stand-up comedian Che Diaz. Sources indicated that Sara was not let go due to their political views or social media presence, both of which had recently generated controversy. A spokesperson for Max chose not to comment on the matter.
One of the most pressing questions surrounding the upcoming season is whether John Corbett will reprise his role as Aidan. Throughout season 2 of And Just Like That, Aidan Shaw made a triumphant comeback, reigniting his romance with Carrie after years of separation. Their renewed happiness culminated in Carrie purchasing a new apartment to embark on the next chapter of her life alongside Aidan.

In the penultimate episode of season 2, Aidan faced a distressing situation when his teenage son, Wyatt, was involved in an accident in Virginia while Aidan was in New York with Carrie. Overwhelmed with emotion, Aidan broke down, expressing his guilt for not being there for his son. This harrowing situation cast a shadow over Aidan and Carrie’s relationship. In the finale, Aidan made the difficult decision to temporarily end things with Carrie, requesting five years to fully support his children. While it appears Aidan will be returning to Virginia for now, there’s a possibility he may reappear in season 3.
Will the Beloved Samantha Jones Make a Comeback in And Just Like That Season 3?
In an exciting twist, Samantha Jones made a surprise appearance in the highly-anticipated season 2 finale of And Just Like That on August 24, marking Kim Cattrall’s first return to the revival series.

As Carrie prepared for her final dinner in her apartment, Samantha reached out with a call. She intended to surprise Carrie by flying in from London for the occasion. Unfortunately, her flight was delayed. Nevertheless, Samantha managed to pay her respects to Carrie’s apartment through a heartfelt phone call. Although brief, this interaction was monumental for fans who have longed for Samantha’s presence.
After their conversation ended, Samantha sweetly kissed her phone, a moment that And Just Like That showrunner Michael Patrick King revealed was not scripted during the finale edition of the show’s official podcast. He clarified that this phone call was not intended to be a grand moment between the two characters.
“In my vision for the multiverse of And Just Like That/Sex and the City, they’ve always been in contact. Texting and talking, not just Carrie but also Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte,” he explained. “We’ve reduced the texting this season because it felt like we were overusing the element.”
Kim’s appearance was initially announced in June 2023. The Golden Globe-winning actress reportedly filmed her scene in March without any direct interaction with Sarah Jessica Parker or Michael, according to Variety. Prior to the episode, it was revealed that the scene would feature a phone conversation between Samantha and Carrie. In the season 2 finale preview, fans witnessed Carrie receiving a call from Samantha, following their agreement to meet offscreen after their prior fallout in season 1.
Although Kim had previously stated she would not reprise her role as Samantha Jones in the revival series, she ultimately changed her mind, much to the delight of fans.
In a preview clip of an interview with Hoda and Jenna airing tomorrow, Kim Cattrall opens up about her “Sex and the City” character Samantha: “I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much and I’m so appreciative of her.” pic.twitter.com/O8vaFr97WI

During a June 29 interview, the actress expressed her joy about returning to the role. “I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha. She’s like many other characters I’ve portrayed over the years; I become emotionally attached and protective of them,” Kim shared on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna. “She has given me so much, and I deeply appreciate her.”
Reflecting on her experience playing Samantha again, Kim stated, “It felt like dipping my toe back into a time capsule and enjoying a wonderful afternoon followed by a delightful martini.” When asked about her potential return for season 3, Kim coyly responded, “That’s as far as I’m going to go.”
Despite their past conflicts, SJP expressed to ET that she was “really excited” about Kim’s return. “I thought it was a fantastic idea and was thrilled that we could make it happen. It’s truly wonderful to see her back. I was genuinely pleased,” she added.
Michael shared with Forbes that “something shifted emotionally in the universe” leading up to Kim’s return. “Suddenly, it became possible for Kim to say, ‘I’ll play Samantha for you for this little, sweet treat.’ I don’t know if it’s due to nostalgia for the 25th anniversary, but for me, it’s a delightful gift for the fans,” he remarked. “It was a joy to write for Samantha again and to see her back in the show.”
Key Events Unfolding at the End of And Just Like That Season 2
The season 2 finale of And Just Like That brought forth an array of new beginnings and poignant endings. Along with Samantha’s highly-anticipated return, the romantic journey of Aidan and Carrie faced a temporary pause. Carrie officially transitioned out of her former apartment and into her new living space, signifying a fresh chapter in her life.

Che and Miranda took the time to address the complexities of their relationship after Che’s harsh jokes at the comedy club. They reached an understanding, acknowledging that their relationship was akin to a “train wreck.” Miranda also engaged in a candid conversation with Steve, and together, they decided to embark on a new chapter as friends. In a triumphant moment towards the episode’s conclusion, Miranda received a last-minute call to appear on BBC, which she absolutely nailed.
Rather than languishing over Aidan’s decision to leave New York for Virginia, Carrie chose to embrace her future with optimism. Instead of heading to the Hamptons with Seema for the summer, the girls decided to venture all the way to Greece, exploring new horizons together.
