Teddi Mellencamp is currently pausing her immunotherapy treatment as part of her ongoing battle with stage 4 cancer. This significant decision comes after a series of health challenges she has faced recently. The former star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” provided her listeners with a heartfelt update during a recent episode of her podcast, “Two T’s in a Pod,” which aired on Wednesday.
“For the past month, I haven’t been feeling well, which honestly caught me off guard, and it has taken a toll on me mentally,” she shared, discussing how her initial positive feelings post-surgery and the start of radiation and immunotherapy quickly faded. She expressed her confusion, questioning herself, “Why do I feel like I can barely open my eyes or articulate my thoughts?”
Following an urgent consultation with her doctor, she learned that continuing with immunotherapy could exacerbate her symptoms. Despite previously feeling capable of managing her daily activities, the sudden shift in her health truly hit her hard.
“They conducted numerous scans, and everything appears to be progressing positively; the tumors are shrinking. However, I am experiencing significant discomfort, which the doctors attribute to the immunotherapy,” the 44-year-old explained, emphasizing the importance of listening to her body. “We are opting for a brief pause in the immunotherapy to allow my body to regain strength. Currently, I’m on steroids and we are doing everything possible to help me feel like myself again, capable of handling my responsibilities.”
Mellencamp remarked, “I have never felt this way until recently, and it’s truly heartbreaking.”
The latest update regarding Mellencamp’s treatment follows her earlier announcement two months ago, where she shared with her podcast audience and co-host Tamra Judge that the tumors in her brain had shown signs of shrinking, according to her most recent scan results.
“Today, I had a scan that checked my lungs, and the results were promising; they are shrinking, and one tumor has reduced so much that it’s barely visible now,” she added, feeling relieved as her doctor confirmed that “everything is progressing in the right direction.”
The former reality star was diagnosed with skin cancer in October 2022 and revealed in February of this year that the cancer had metastasized to her brain and lungs, complicating her health journey.
After undergoing emergency surgery to remove some brain tumors, she reported that additional tumors were discovered during a follow-up scan in April.
Mellencamp also revealed that her doctors have given her a 50/50 chance of survival, adding an extra layer of gravity to her situation. In a recent incident, she and her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, experienced a frightening moment when burglars attempted to break into their Los Angeles home while they were inside with their three children.
An insider informed Page Six that “Fortunately, their security system functioned effectively, the police arrived promptly, and the intruders fled the scene.”
The couple released a joint statement, expressing gratitude that everyone remained unharmed. “While we are shaken by the event, we feel fortunate to have the latest home security technology, which deterred the intruders,” they stated.
“Authorities were notified and responded swiftly. We appreciate everyone’s concern, especially in light of recent criminal activities in our area, but we are safe,” they added, reassuring the public.
Arroyave and Mellencamp are currently navigating an amicable divorce after she filed for the dissolution of their marriage in November 2024. Despite their separation, he has remained by her side, providing support throughout her cancer fight.
During Wednesday’s podcast, Mellencamp clarified that “nothing has changed in our relationship except that [they’re] on hold due to the current medical situation.”
“He has had to step in and assist me because there are days when I simply can’t manage everything,” she concluded, highlighting the challenges she faces.
