With a hint of sarcasm, she began the video by clarifying misconceptions about how suntans work, emphasizing the natural variation in skin tones influenced by sun exposure.
“To all the haters out there, I do not bleach my skin. There’s something called sunlight, and under sunlight, you can see different colors,” Serena asserted, dispelling the rumors with clarity and conviction. She further described the claims as “ridiculous,” attributing any perceived changes in her skin tone to photography retouching and specific instances, such as wearing stage makeup during her daughter’s play.
“I’m a proud dark-skinned woman who loves my appearance, and I embrace who I am. If others choose to alter their skin, that’s their personal choice, and I respect that. However, I don’t judge others for their decisions. It’s essential to clarify that I do not engage in skin bleaching, so let’s set the record straight,” the tennis icon stated emphatically.
Serena Williams’ Husband’s Health Journey After Thyroid Surgery
While the online community fixates on Serena Williams’ skin tone, she is likely focused on her husband’s health and recovery. Alexis Ohanian recently underwent thyroid surgery following a serious cancer scare that prompted him to take action. On Thanksgiving, he disclosed that he had half of his thyroid removed due to the presence of “suspicious nodules” that had been monitored for several years due to his family history of cancer.
The 41-year-old did not mention Serena directly in his social media post but did express gratitude for his daughters. He encouraged fathers everywhere to prioritize their health, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and regular check-ups.
“I wasn’t gonna take any chances; the surgery went smoothly. I’m especially grateful this Thanksgiving because I received news that the half of my thyroid that was removed contained some concerning nodules likely to become cancerous,” Alexis shared. “The hardest part has been not being able to lift weights for two weeks, but I’ll be back at it soon. I even took my girls to Disney World this week, and life is indeed wonderful,” he added, reflecting on his gratitude amidst challenges.
