Those looking forward to “God of War: Ragnarok” should be careful what they click on for the next few weeks. Numerous outlets are reporting that spoilers for the game have begun appearing on the internet. According to VGC, a Twitter user somehow got access to the game early and posted screenshots from it. The screenshots, the report continued, featured “significant spoilers” that are now being spread online.

Some have suggested that the Twitter posts may have been unintentional. Well-known industry reporter Nibel tweeted Monday morning that someone with a review code was posting “Ragnarok” content. In the tweet, Nibel mentioned the possibility that it could have been an accident. VGC’s report also said the Twitter user could actually be playing the game to review it and the screenshots they took were unknowingly and automatically posted to their account.

Not long after the user discovered what was on their account, they deleted all Ragnarok screenshots. Unfortunately, it was more than enough time for other users to save them and spread them around.

This is yet another massive story leak from Sony Interactive Entertainment. In May 2020, the company was blindsided when several key story moments from “The Last of Us Part 2” were posted on YouTube more than six weeks before the game’s release.

Fortunately for Sony, “God of War: Ragnarok” is much closer to its release. Early impressions have been mostly positive, so despite the leak, it’s gearing up to be another bestseller for the company.
