When Will Social Media Chaos End?

Everything has become permissible on social media, everyone could spread a rumor, violate the sanctity of anything, bully a person, fabricate a picture of marriage, quarrel or interview, publish false news.

It is an absolute chaos that rules this world which is no longer a virtual one, but negatively affects our lives and causes disasters despite the existence of a law governing social media, which was issued in 2018.

This law needs activation, as the law stipulates that every personal website, blog or account with a number of followers reaching five thousand or more must be blocked in case of publishing or broadcasting false news or calling for violating the law, committing violent acts or hatred.

Although the law was issued 4 years ago, the chaos of social media is still going on, and everyone could publish any news whether false or truthful, some believe that it is true, copy it, republish it and create confusion in society.

What are the loopholes in the law and does it need to be amended or activated? Why don’t we re-read this law and address in the loopholes? The number of views has  become a goal which makes everything ,even if illegal, permissible especially after Tik Tok and YouTube channels increased randomly besides Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and others. There is a deceptive belief that they are the best source for news and facts, despite the fact that most of them are lying.

The reason of this belief is that with a simple movement of our fingers on the mouse we know the news of celebrities and the latest developments in America, for example, a scientific study confirmed that 67% of citizens get news from social media and 45% get it from Facebook only!

Well, many people can know the latest news from social media, but at the same time, it has become a source of misinformation. Unfortunately , we exchange and publish it without verifying its credibility. It has always exaggerated unnecessary events such as the color of a dress, marriage, divorce, or a secret decision of the board of directors of a club or association, and then it turns out a short time later to be false. This made social media a source of uncertainty and nuisance that is chasing us everywhere and all the time.

Dozens of research and scientific theses in universities proved that the social media responsible for many social disasters, including isolation, social escape, disintegration, harassment, bullying, and physical and emotional blackmail!

We need to apply a code for social media to protect our minds, homes and society..!
