Googlebook 15 Leak Suggests Premium Lenovo Design

As Google prepares to unveil its new Googlebook platform later this year, exciting details are emerging about one of the first Android-based laptops set to launch. According to MacObserver, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 is packed with high-end components, including the latest Intel Core Ultra processors and a high-resolution, high-refresh rate touchscreen display.

Lenovo is reportedly developing several new devices for Google, including a tablet with a detachable trackpad and keyboard, as well as a more conventional laptop. The Lenovo Googlebook 15 falls into the latter category. MacObserver indicates that this model will boast a 15.3-inch 120Hz OLED display with a stunning resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels and an impressive peak brightness of 500 nits. The device will be powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 chip and offer configurations with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM, alongside storage options of 256GB or 512GB.

These specifications represent a notable upgrade compared to Google’s Chromebook Plus initiative, which mandated a baseline of 8GB RAM, 128GB of storage, and either an Intel Core or AMD Ryzen 700 series processor to access exclusive AI features. The Googlebooks are undoubtedly positioned as more premium alternatives compared to their Chromebook predecessors.

The enhanced processing capabilities are likely essential for the laptop’s Gemini Intelligence features. Google highlighted several of these features during the announcement of the Googlebook initiative, with Magic Cursor standing out as a particularly intriguing addition. This feature transforms the laptop’s mouse cursor into a contextual prompting tool for Gemini. Googlebooks will include unique hardware features, such as a multicolored LED strip known as a “glowbar,” which will be present on the Lenovo Googlebook 15, according to MacObserver.

While the potential specifications hint at a higher price point for this initial wave of Googlebooks, it remains to be seen exactly how they will compare to existing Chromebooks.
