The recent surge of age verification laws enacted by various US state governments continues to shape the app landscape. Apple has announced that starting tomorrow, all apps made available in Texas must comply with the stipulations outlined in state law SB 2420. This significant update was first reported by MacRumors.

Under the new regulation, users creating Apple accounts in Texas must verify their ages. When minors download apps, significant updates, or make in-app purchases, consent from a parent or guardian is required. developers will need to implement features that allow parents or guardians to revoke consent at any moment.

The Texas legislation, which was signed into law last May, faced legal challenges that postponed its initial implementation date of January 1. Apple had proactively begun preparing to meet these location-specific legal requirements, having already started age verification for iCloud accounts in the UK back in March.
