The beloved Melrose Place star, aged 57, tragically passed away after suffering a heart attack at his home in Beverly Hills, California, on April 19, 2026. During this heart-wrenching moment, he was accompanied by his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, who urgently called for paramedics, but unfortunately, they were unable to revive the actor. As the shocking news spread, many of Patrick’s former colleagues took to social media to pay their respects and share heartfelt tributes, including his former girlfriend and close friend Denise Richards. The two, who had an on-and-off romantic relationship in the late 1990s, also collaborated on the film Starship Troopers and reunited for a project in 2026 titled Dirty Hands.
In the paragraphs that follow, you will find the touching tributes shared by Patrick’s former co-stars and friends, offering a glimpse into the impact he had on their lives.
Heartfelt Tribute from Denise Richards
“This is so difficult for me to articulate,” Denise shared in an emotional Instagram video. “I am profoundly heartbroken and devastated by the loss of you. You were not just a friend but my best friend and family. We first met in our acting class, when I was just 19 and had yet to land my first acting role, while you were 21 and already making waves as a recurring character on Who’s the Boss. Now, here we are, 36 years later, and I cannot imagine my entire adult life without you.”
Denise continued by expressing that their “friendship, love, support, respect, and loyalty were unconditional and truly rare,” emphasizing the deep bond they shared.
“You brought light and joy into every room you entered,” Denise added. “You were larger than life, and everyone was irresistibly drawn to your remarkable spirit. You were an incredibly talented actor, greatly underrated, and yet so humble. Everything about you was infectious, from your laughter to your kindness, your wit, strength, loyalty, passion, and zest for life. We have been each other’s rock throughout our journeys. The memories we created together are endless. You have always had my back and protected me more than anyone else. I truly don’t know how I will navigate life without you. You were my voice of reason and my pillar of strength, especially during this past year filled with pain and heartache. Now, I need you more than ever to help me cope with this profound loss. Schweetbabe, we always had those conversations about living forever or at least until our 90s.”
In her heartfelt conclusion, Denise wrote, “Schweetbabe, I will be looking for those signs. I need to know you’re still here with me. I love you immensely and miss you dearly, schweetbabe.”
Tori Spelling’s Emotional Reflection
In her own heartfelt post, Tori Spelling expressed that it took her “a couple of days” to find the right words, noting that she “wasn’t ready to write because acknowledging it made it feel all too real, and it shouldn’t have to be.”
“@thepatrickmuldoon and I had our first encounter on a blind date; however, it turned out to be anything but blind since we were both involved in a television series,” Tori reminisced. “Like many girls around the world, I had a crush on your character Austin from Days of Our Lives, although I’m not sure I ever admitted that to you. What I ultimately fell in love with was not just your outer beauty but the incredible beauty of your soul. You were truly special and one of a kind. Your kindness, thoughtfulness, and wonderfully quirky sense of humor set you apart. We truly understood each other, shared countless laughs, and I cherished every moment with you. You were multi-talented, passionate about everything you pursued, and had a unique ability to make others smile, bringing absolute joy to everyone fortunate enough to know you. You were a true gift to this world.”
Tori reflected on their shared interests, stating they “bonded over our love for the Broncos, guitars, playful antics, and the musical Grease!” She added that Patrick played a significant role in her formative twenties.
“Over the years, we developed a deep friendship, always filled with laughter and care,” she continued. “Decades later, I found him to be a true friend and cheerleader, especially during my divorce. He would call to check on me and send me the worst jokes to lift my spirits. He thrived on my eye-rolls. Now, I find myself missing those silly jokes terribly. The last time I saw him was last summer when I finally met his soulmate, @miriamrothbart. He assured me we would get along, and I immediately saw why! She was his perfect balance. He was truly in his element, experiencing true love, and acting and producing became his passion, as he would often say. He was absolutely crushing it! While I don’t believe in regrets, I do regret not scheduling that dinner with him and Miriam after that moment. Life is far too short.”
Touching Words from Lola Sheen, Denise Richards’ Daughter
Lola, Denise’s daughter, shared her own heartfelt memories in an Instagram post, revealing that she “always urged my mom to tell you that we believed you two would eventually be together again, haha. But, I suppose being best friends turned out to be better in the end.”
