Scheana Shay recently made a revealing statement regarding her past affair with Eddie Cibrian, who was married at the time. This disclosure adds a new layer of complexity to their tumultuous relationship.
The Vanderpump Rules alum reminisced about the exact moment she was drawn to Cibrian, who was wed to Brandi Glanville, a prominent figure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. This connection began when she started her job at a private cigar lounge and restaurant in Beverly Hills, California, back in 2006, a setting that would soon change her life.
“I first laid eyes on Eddie Cibrian a couple of months later when he stepped off the elevator at the cigar lounge, where he regularly played poker on Tuesday nights,” she writes in an excerpt from her highly anticipated memoir, My Good Side, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
“If you had asked me during my childhood what my ideal type was, it would have been Eddie—tall, dark, and handsome, with charming dimples. The moment we locked eyes, he flashed me that dimpled smile, and I completely melted,” she recalled, emphasizing the magnetic attraction she felt.
The reality star, now 40, noted that her “relationship” with Cibrian, who is 52, “wasn’t romantic from the start, although the signs were clear from day one.” This admission highlights the complexity of their initial interactions and the underlying tensions they faced.
“Eddie was the sweetest, funniest, most charismatic, and consummate gentleman I’d ever encountered. He always made me feel like I was the only woman in the room while I was working,” she raved in her book, painting a picture of his captivating personality.
“While most of the other patrons at the cigar lounge were simply focused on their drinks and poker games, Eddie made a genuine effort to maintain eye contact with me, which felt refreshing and special,” she elaborated, indicating the depth of their connection.
Shay confessed that she “didn’t realize” the Sunset Beach star was married, as he allegedly “never wore a wedding ring,” and their affair took place in a time before the dominance of social media platforms. “There were no posts of his family in matching pajamas in front of a Christmas tree,” she explained, emphasizing the secrecy surrounding their relationship.
Shay clarified that Cibrian “wasn’t my boyfriend (at least not fully),” but they initiated a physical relationship toward the end of 2006, which she referred to as “a weekly booty call” at her home after his poker games, reflecting the casual nature of their encounters.
However, the “Valley” star revealed that her seemingly perfect romance with Cibrian began to unravel when a member of the cigar lounge informed her that the LeAnn & Eddie alum was indeed married, adding an unexpected twist to their story.
“I didn’t believe it (or maybe I just didn’t want to believe it) because I was infatuated with Eddie,” she shared candidly. “Moreover, we were frequently seen together in public, so I didn’t feel like a hidden mistress! Nonetheless, I was panicking and felt a knot in my stomach,” she recounted, capturing her emotional turmoil.
Shay then confronted Cibrian about his double life at the cigar lounge, seeking clarity on their complicated situation.
“As expected, Eddie arrived, and immediately he could sense that my energy was off. He asked me what was wrong, and I told him to check his phone. I’d sent him a message saying, ‘I have to ask, before we hang out tonight, does something belong on your ring finger?’” she recalled, detailing the tension of that moment.
“I didn’t want to come off as aggressive or have him think I was acting irrationally since I wasn’t sure if it was true, and my natural tendency to please others was in full effect,” she elaborated, revealing her internal conflict.
Shay recounted how she directly asked Cibrian if he was married, to which he vehemently replied, “No, that’s ridiculous. Why would you ask me that?”
“It was gaslighting at its simplest form. Yet, I trusted him, so we continued hanging out,” she admitted, shedding light on the psychological dynamics of their relationship.
Page Six has reached out to both Glanville and Cibrian for comments but has yet to receive a response, highlighting the ongoing intrigue surrounding this love triangle.
Her recent remarks about their affair appear to contradict her statements made to Access Hollywood back in 2009, when the details of their indiscretion came to light.
At that time, she claimed it was her mother who notified her about Cibrian’s marriage after seeing a newspaper article announcing that he and Glanville were expecting their second child in 2007.
Although they reportedly ended their relationship at that point, they reignited their romance months later when Cibrian convinced her that he and Glanville had separated.
“I just wanted to believe what he was telling me,” she confessed to the outlet during that period. “I was kind of like, ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’ Whatever, let’s enjoy a great summer. If you’re with me, you’re with me. If you’re not, we’ll just do our own thing.”
However, she also acknowledged that Cibrian consistently returned home to Glanville and their children at the end of each night, which complicated her feelings.
“I always wished he could be just mine. But deep down, I knew there was something else,” she admitted at that time, revealing her internal struggles.
Cibrian was married to Glanville, also 52, from 2001 to 2010. The former couple shares two sons, Mason, 22, and Jake, 18, adding another layer to the narrative of their past relationship.
Shay was not the only woman with whom the Third Watch actor engaged in a romantic relationship during his marriage to the former Bravo star.
He also began a relationship with LeAnn Rimes while still married to Glanville. Following their divorce, Cibrian and the Blue singer tied the knot in 2011, illustrating the ongoing complexities of love and betrayal in Hollywood.
My Good Side will be available on July 22, promising to delve deeper into these compelling stories and revelations.
