Meta has rolled out a comprehensive set of enhancements for its Twitter alternative, Threads. These updates include exciting features such as the ability to add personalized topics of interest to your profile, refined topic tagging for posts, enhanced reply controls, updates to the video user interface, and much more.

Initially tested over the past month, Threads has now confirmed that users can officially add topics of interest to their profiles. This new feature allows users to showcase their passions and the subjects they frequently discuss, helping to connect with like-minded individuals.

As illustrated in the accompanying screenshots, users will now be able to highlight specific topics of interest, which will be displayed prominently beneath their bio on their Threads profile. This feature is expected to encourage users to engage more actively within the app.

Meta has also introduced new post control features, granting users greater authority over how others can interact with their updates:

“Starting today, users can opt to permit replies and quote-posts exclusively from their followers. This builds on our Quote Controls feature introduced in November 2024, designed to give users more control over who can engage with their content.”

Similar to X, users will now have enhanced control over how others can interact with their posts, which is a crucial safety feature for many individuals using the platform.

As Meta gradually reintroduces political content into Threads, these controls may become increasingly vital.

“In accordance with our earlier announcement this year, we’ve revised our approach to political posts and are starting to reintegrate civic content into Threads in a more tailored manner.”
