When it comes to the desires of Broadway legend Patti LuPone, not all wishes come true, especially regarding a potential second season of Agatha All Along. For those who may not be familiar, this Marvel series picks up after the dramatic events of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Unfortunately, the fate of the show’s central character, Agatha (played by Kathryn Hahn), along with numerous other beloved characters, concluded in tragedy.
According to The Wrap, during an engaging discussion with Andy Cohen on his Sirius XM podcast, Andy Cohen Live, Patti LuPone shared her hopes for her character, Lilia Calderu, a standout member of the Witches’ Road coven. However, LuPone quickly learned that her character would meet an untimely end. “Jac Schaeffer, the creator of the show, came into my trailer and said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I responded, ‘But I wanted a second season!’”
Marvel fans understand that in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, death often isn’t the definitive conclusion it appears to be. After all, Agatha is set to return as a ghostly mentor—so why shouldn’t Lilia get the same treatment?
LuPone elaborated, “[Schaeffer] mentioned, ‘I don’t do second seasons.’ She explained that while there was interest in a second season of WandaVision, she opted against it. She expressed that crafting compelling narratives takes significant effort, which is why she prefers to create standalone stories. I’m holding onto hope that I get the opportunity to collaborate with her again someday because she truly is magical.”
Lilia is undoubtedly a remarkable addition to the Marvel universe of witches. Fans are eager for more, imagining a ghostly coven guiding characters like Billy Maximoff and Jennifer Kale. Picture Lilia connecting with Jennifer Kale from beyond, similar to Agatha’s ethereal appearances—what a thrilling concept!
