Attention all fans of Severance! The much-anticipated full trailer for Severance Season 2 has finally arrived, unveiling essential insights into the aftermath of Season 1’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger. This new preview brings clarity and excitement for what lies ahead for our favorite characters.

To recap what we experienced: Season 1 culminated in a daring escape attempt by the severed Lumon employees: Mark S. (Adam Scott), Helly R. (Britt Lower), Irving B. (John Turturro), and Dylan G. (Zach Cherry). Just as they were about to break free, Lumon intervened, but not before Mark disclosed the shocking revelation that his Outie’s deceased wife Gemma is, in fact, alive, playing the role of Lumon wellness counselor Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman). The suspense is palpable, and I’ve been on the edge of my seat, anxiously awaiting answers for over two years.
Now, the pressing question is: What are the next moves for the Innies, who have been discovered? And what strategies will Lumon implement in retaliation?
The trailer suggests a surprising twist: Lumon might not retaliate as expected. Instead, severed floor manager Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) claims that the Innies have garnered fame in the outside world, leading to a wave of severance reforms at Lumon. Given Lumon’s notorious reputation for secrecy and manipulation, this development feels suspicious. However, it appears that the Innies may not face immediate severe consequences for their actions—at least for now.

With the immediate danger seemingly averted, Mark’s Innie is now focused on a critical mission: rescuing Ms. Casey from Lumon’s grasp. Along the way, it would also be beneficial for him and his fellow macrodata refiners to uncover the true nature of their work. A newly introduced Lumon executive (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) ominously states that “their work will be remembered as one of the greatest moments of this planet.” This suggests that what they are involved in could be either remarkably beneficial or incredibly nefarious. Given Lumon’s history, it’s safe to assume we should expect the latter.
Meanwhile, on the outside, Mark and his sister Devon (Jen Tullock) embark on their quest to solve the mystery surrounding Gemma and to uncover why Ms. Cobel/Mrs. Selvig (Patricia Arquette) seems obsessed with their family. I find myself rooting for them—not just because I am invested in their journey, but because I too am desperate for answers.
However, Mark isn’t the only Outie stepping into the spotlight this season. We also see Irving’s Outie making cryptic phone calls from a booth, possibly connecting with Burt’s (Christopher Walken) Outie. Additionally, Helly’s Outie, Helena Eagan—the heir to Lumon—is in full damage control mode, indicating that the stakes are high. While Dylan’s Outie has yet to make an appearance, it’s hard to believe that Severance would leave him out of the unfolding drama.
This season is already shaping up to be a whirlwind, and I haven’t even begun to discuss Lumon’s new severed employees, portrayed by Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, and Stefano Carannante; the revamped goat room; or Ms. Huang (Sarah Bock), the literal child acting as the severed floor’s deputy manager. The complexity of these plotlines is both thrilling and overwhelming.
As the questions multiply, we can only express our gratitude that Severance Season 2 is almost upon us, and hopefully, it will provide the answers we’ve all been waiting for.
